Collecting Moonbeams
Greetings! I’m spiritual friend, Michelle Watts, and I’m here to guide you through an enchanted portal called The Fairy Ring—here in this liminal space we will walk the hidden worlds of mysticism and learn how to ground that dreamlike energy into our every day So if you’re ready to affirm your curiosity and set yourself free to create a reality from the realm of fantasy, then welcome to the Fairy Ring.
“It's all the same. Don't you see? The Beast, the Bog, the Poem, the Poet, the world. They all love you. They've loved you this whole time.”
― Kelly Barnhill, The Girl Who Drank the Moon
You feel the Fairy Ring disappear behind you as you step out onto a moonlit beach—your feet sinking into the damp sand, still warm from the day’s heat. The ocean mist brushes your skin as a step into the shallow of the waves. The rhythm of cool saltwater lulls you into a calm harmony with the moon as you look up at her. The stars look like blue embers against the dark water and the moon, so close and silver, it feels like she could take a drink from the ocean or could kiss your goodnight. The ocean stretches and shifts around you bringing a small glass bottle that bumps against your knee. You pick up the bottle and noticed that it is labeled—moon water: make a wish and drink deeply. You take a deep breath with the tide knowing that this water is special, blessed by the moon herself. That a bit of the moon’s magic inside of you can truly grant a wish. The cork of the bottle pops quietly as you open it and think of your wish. You say the wish quietly to the moon and thank her for her blessing before you raise the bottle to your lips. A part of you imagined that the water would taste salty like the sea but instead it fills your mouth with a light coolness with an aftertaste that is a little sweet—perhaps how a moonbeam would taste. And as you drink the last drop, your body dissolves into seafoam, and the Fairy Ring pulls you into the tide and for a moment you are the ocean kissing a thousand shores and you are the moon granting someone’s wish.
The moon card is tarot is all about mystery, psychic connection, and subconscious intuition. She brings a strange beauty of the supernatural world into the natural coaxing us to explore our shadow self and find power in the wild mind. Her wisdom is that repression of our shadow shelf leads to a darkness that is no longer delicious but destructive fear that festers, memories that repress, secrecy around our shame, and even madness. she is not fully seen, we can faith that she’s still there looking down at us
The moon card in the tarot is about mystery, psychic connection, and subconscious intuition. She serves as a reminder that even if our darkness is not seen, it is still there. That repressing our shadow-self is also repressing our personal power. This can manifest in nightmares, fears fester into depression and anxiety, secrets that lead shame, & even confusion that leads madness. Instead, the moon offers herself as a guiding light through our dark side to us brings to the world of dreams, the mystery nature, & the freedom that comes from exploring our wildness. She teaches us that darkness is inherently, just as light isn’t inherently good—it just is. If we approach our shadows with curiosity and fascination, we unlock our free will and our ability to choose who we want to be.
The lunar cycle affects our oceans, agriculture, sleep patterns, the female menstruation cycle, even letting us know when it the best time to hunt or fish. The moon doesn’t just our oceans though but any body of water—even the water you use to take your bath.
This is where the concept of moon water is so exciting as a manifestation technique. It is as elegant as it is simple, the idea of combining two primordial elements, water and moonlight with our intentions-there by affecting the energy around us and attracting the energy we want anything from more vitality to dream job opportunity. You can think of moon water as do it yourself holy water blessed by the divinity of nature and of the divinity of you. Why not? Because Afterall, you are, as Alan Watts says, the universe experiencing itself.
My dear friend Kalyn calls her process of making moon water, collecting moonbeams. All you need to make moon water is a clear jar, clean water, and moonlight. Set your jar of water our on a full or new moon with an intention, something as general like better health or something more detailed such as you become an amazing chef of healthy, delicious meals. The trick is choosing a manifestation that you want but you also believe is possible. You can write this wish on a piece of paper and set it by your bottle or merely say it out loud. Drink this water every day for a month, saying or thinking of your manifestation each time you drink. This aligns you with the vibration of manifestation you set and helps to attract it into your life.
